Persona (1966) dir. Ingmar Bergman

One of the reasons why Persona is one of my all time favorite films is because of how experimental Bergman was with the making of this movie and it’s influence on modern films. The link below is worth checking out if you want to see how Persona has influenced modern movies.

This editorial by BFI’s David Parkinson goes over five different movies that drew inspiration from Ingmar Begman’s 1966 film Persona and to further convey just how influential Persona was in terms of filmmaking and cinema. Fans of Ingmar Bergman’s Persona are likely to enjoy the aforementioned movies in the article due to them being similar thematically and in the subject matter within the film.

El Topo (1970) Dir. Alejandro Jodorowsky

One interesting link worth checking out is this interview on the director of El Topo where he discusses the making of the film and the symbolism behind the movie.

In this interview, Jodorowsky elaborates on much of the symbolism of his 1973 film El Topo. This interview not only covers the meaning behind the movie but Jodorowsky also touches on the production of the movie and it’s reception. This editorial is a worthwhile read for those interested in the making of Jodorowsky or foreign cinema in general.
